The network engineer programme is designed for apprentices to engineers who will plan and manage network installations. Network engineers can select different pathways including CCNA, CompTIA and Microsoft Azure. Supported by a course mentor, they will learn how to design, install, maintain and support communication networks within an organisation or between organisations. They will understand the network design, equipment and security. This is a 24-month programme leading to an endpoint assessment of a portfolio, simulated assessment and discussion.

The primary role of a network engineer is to design, install, maintain and support communication networks within an organisation or between organisations. Network engineers need to maintain high levels of operation of communication networks in order to provide maximum performance and availability for their users, such as staff, clients, customers and suppliers. They will understand network configuration, cloud, network administration and monitoring tools, and be able to give technical advice and guidance.

The duration of this apprenticeship is 24 months.

How is this apprenticeship delivered?

This programme has been designed for experienced structured network engineers who are looking to develop their skills and knowledge of all aspects of network technology. The apprenticeship is delivered through online learning, webinars one to one tutorials.

Depending on the job role, apprentices can select modules from our list which includes:

  • Microsoft Azure Administrator
  • Microsoft Networking Fundamentals
  • Amazon Web Services
  • PRINCE2 Foundation

This is a high-level course and will provide you with the knowledge and skills to enhance your credentials.

Completing the apprenticeship

This is an apprenticeship standard so all apprentices have to go through the endpoint assessment process, also known as EPA. To complete the endpoint, apprentices will be required to:

  • Complete a simulated assessment and questioning
  • Develop an online portfolio
  • Professional discussion underpinned by the portfolio
