This programme is designed to deliver the knowledge, skills and behaviours for apprentices working in a digital marketing environment. Throughout the programme, apprentices will gain knowledge and skills in areas such as digital marketing technologies and application, collaborative technologies, content management, search engine optimisation and online marketing. Apprentices work with a mentor who will guide them through their knowledge and skills development. This is a 15-month programme leading towards an endpoint assessment of a synoptic project, portfolio and professional discussion.

The primary role of a digital marketer is to define, design, build and implement digital campaigns across a variety of online and social media platforms to drive customer acquisition, customer engagement and customer retention. A digital marketer will typically be working as part of a team, in which they will have responsibility for some of the straightforward elements of the overall marketing plan or campaign. The marketer will work to marketing briefs and instructions. They will normally report to a digital marketing manager, a marketing manager or an IT Manager.

The duration of this apprenticeship is typically 15 to 18 months.

How is the apprenticeship delivered?

This apprenticeship is delivered through workshops that take place either in our training centre in Harrogate, in Leeds or at employer locations. Apprentices will also access our learning platform to access online learning and to build their portfolio.

Completing the apprenticeship

This is an apprenticeship standard so all apprentices have to go through the endpoint assessment process, also known as EPA. To complete the endpoint, apprentices will be required to:

  • Complete a synoptic project
  • Develop an online portfolio
  • Pass 3 knowledge modules (multiple choice)
  • Complete a discussion with an endpoint assessor
